Welcome to the website of Dr. Don Kistler. Dr. Kistler is a Bible teacher and author. If there is a theme to this website, it is “Doctrine Matters.” As the Puritans would often say, “Theology is the art of living well to God.” Proper theology should culminate in proper conduct and practice, or, “Orthodoxy leads to orthopraxy.” We will not live any better than our theology; we may not live as well as our theology, but we will never live any better.
Here we hope you will find teaching that will influence and guide your decisions, choices, and behavior. Since theology is about God, it is imminently practical by its very nature. The more we know God, the more we will seek to imitate Him and the more we will please Him.
LET US PRAY
“It has come to our attention that there are some misprints in chapter 10 of our latest book “Let Us Pray.” Somehow on several pages in that chapter there are lines repeated from one page to the next. In only 2 cases are there missing words. We have posted the chapter with the corrections here for you. The errors will be corrected in the next printing.” Chapter 10 Corrected – Chapter 10 Errata

The Sabbath is a Blessing to Mankind – Gardiner Spring was a famous Presbyterian preacher in New York City in the late 1800′s. His best known works are “The Distinguishing Traits of the Christian Character,” published by The Northampton Press, and “The Power of the Pulpit,” published by the Banner of Truth. This is a short treatise he wrote on the benefits of keeping the Sabbath, and how it is beneficial to do so for believers and unbelievers alike.

LAW AND LIBERTY
OUR PRICE: $12 + shipping
There are two deadly extremes Christians must avoid – legalism and antinomianism. Both are antithetical to the gospel. One raises God’s standards and the other lowers them. This book addresses the first of those deadly traps, that of legalism. It is a term that is often thrown about, but is seldom defined.
In this helpful book, several noted preachers and theologians show what legalism is and how destructive it can be to a right understanding of both justification and sanctification. Legalism is “a yoke that neither we nor our fathers could bear.” Fortunately, that “yoke” was borne by Christ at the cross, and He alone is able to bear it. He has “fulfilled all righteousness” for us, and that is a reason for rejoicing.
LET US PRAY

When our Lord’s disciples came to Him regarding prayer, they did not ask Him to teach them how to pray, but rather they asked Him to teach them to pray. Obviously even those closest to Christ needed to learn to pray. And so do we.Here, some of our best Bible teachers and expositors give us instruction on prayer, from why we should pray, to what prayer is, how it ties in with God’s sovereignty, what it means to pray in Jesus’ name, what it means to hallow God’s name, and why God is to be the focus of our prayers, not ourselves. These, and many other topics, are addressed in this helpful book.

|“Precious Faith” and “The Saints’ Walk by Faith” are the scarcest books by this great Puritan preacher to find on the antiquarian market, and now they are available for the first time since the 17th century. Retypeset and edited, they are combined here into one volume.
PREPARING FOR ETERNITY
by Mike Gendron
OUR PRICE: $12 + shipping
|Mike Gendron is a Dallas-based evangelist who was a devout Roman Catholic for 34 years. God opened his eyes to biblical truth and he has spent his life since that time showing the disparities between official Roman Catholic doctrine and the truth of God’s Word. Here, over 26 chapters, the author examines the issues of ultimate authority, the efficacy of Christ’s sacrifice, the role of Mary, tradition versus Scripture, the mass, purgatory, and several other key teachings. There is also a lengthy chapter where he answers questions and comments that have come to him over the years. If you have friends or relatives who are Roman Catholics, or who may be considering joining the Roman church, this would be a good resource to help them examine themselves and the teachings of that church. Of this book John MacArthur said: “Carefully and convincingly, this helpful book demonstrates that the ‘gospel’ taught in Roman Catholicism is not the true gospel found in the Bible. I heartily recommend Mike Gendron’s book.”
SIGHS FROM HELL
by John Bunyan
OUR PRICE: $15.00 + shipping
|This book is especially timely in light of Rob Bell’s recent book release called “Love Wins,” in which he denies a literal hell, other than the one we make for ourselves. But over 300 years ago John Bunyan wrote this little work in which he exposits the story in Luke 16 of Dives and Lazarus, and shows biblically that hell is quite literal—at least Jesus thought so! This book has been slightly updated as to language and grammar. It is hardbound and printed on acid-free paper. While this work of Bunyan’s is not as well known as “Pilgrim’s Progress,” it is very important, particularly for evangelism. This is what sinners need to be saved from!
